Zekainim

Hashem instructed Moshe to gather 70 men to help lead the Jewish people.  Each of the 12 shevatim sent the same number of applicants for the job. (Bamidbar 11:16) Since 70 is not divisible by 12 there were slightly more applicants provided then there were positions.  (Rashi to Bamidbar 11:26)

Question:

How many applicants did each shevet send?

Answer:

70 / 12 = 5 (with remainder of 10)

Therefore, each shevet sent one more than 5 (i.e. each tribe sent 6 applicants)
