Yisro suggested that Moshe appoint judges over the Jewish people. He suggested that there be one judge for every 1,000 men, another judge for every 100 men, another judge for every 50 men and another judge for every 10 men [Shemos 18: 21]. There were 600,000 men.
Question: How many judges were there?
Answer: 600,000 / 1,000 = 600
600,000 / 100 = 6,000
600,000 / 50 = 12,000
600,000 / 10 = 60,000
600 + 6,000 + 12,000 + 60,000 = 78,600 judges.
