There were two Mizbe’chos in The Mishkan. The Outer Mizbe’ach is five amos (cubits) long (see A), five amos wide (see B), and three amos high (see C) [Shemos (Exodus) 38:1]. Rabbi Yehudah takes these measurements literally. Rabbi Yose says that the Outer Mizbe’ach is actually twice as high as it is long [Rashi on Shemos 27:1].

Question: What is the difference in heights between the two opinions?

Answer:

By Rabbi Yehudah C = 3 amos

By Rabbi Yose C = 2A = 10 amos

The difference is 10 – 3 = 7 amos
