Seed Dispersal

You’re probably familiar with the winged seeds of a maple tree. Some people call them “helicopters” or “whirligigs.” The seed has a wing attached to it that becomes stiff when it dries out. A thin frame around the wing keeps it firm, allowing it to be blown in the wind so that it can spread to other areas.
