Map Skills

Map Skills, Book One teaches young geographers how to read and use maps. Across nine chapters, students learn cardinal and intermediate directions, the compass, map keys, grid maps, and map scales. They also work out where they live, from their own house out to the wider world, and explore the United States, the seven continents and the five oceans. Each chapter introduces one skill at a time, gives plenty of practice on colorful maps, and ends with a review. The book closes with a cumulative review, bonus puzzles and activities, and a glossary.
