The Count of Coucy Student Workbook and Teacher’s Guide

Two brothers set out from Coucy, are captured by pirates, and are sold as slaves. Only one of them can be redeemed. Marcus Lehmann’s historical tale follows them from medieval France to North Africa, Egypt and the Holy Land. This companion set helps students follow every turn of the story.

Student Workbook The workbook covers all 16 chapters, grouped into four units. Each chapter has a vocabulary preview, fill-in-the-blank and comprehension questions, and a short written response. Each unit ends with a checkpoint review. The workbook also includes a character map, background on the author and the historical setting, and a full glossary. Every question asks about what happens in the text, so students build careful, accurate reading habits.

Teacher’s Guide The guide follows the workbook page for page. It includes lesson objectives for each chapter and a complete answer key with page references to the novel. It also has model written responses, a 4-point rubric, and answer keys for every unit checkpoint. Teachers can check any answer against the book in seconds.
